Our in-person Alberta Basic Security Training (ABST) provides the best learning experience available. It is held at our facility in Edmonton, Alberta, and we run the course once every month.
Basic Information about our in-person ABST class:

Course cost: $310.00. Register and pay online, or visit our office!

This is the government accredited course that once completed, allows you to be eligible to write the final government ABST exam.

You will be automatically registered to write the final exam on the last day of class.

5 days: Monday to Friday, from 9am to 4pm. Your final exam will be on the Friday afternoon.

We lend you the ABST Participant's Manual (textbook) for the five days you are here. You also have the option to purchase one to keep, for an extra $40.00.

Kathie has been in training and development for 20 years with a focus on security in the past 10 years. She is full of energy and creates a safe environment for her students to grow in their knowledge and confidence. She is passionate about equipping them for not only the exam, but for their careers in security and beyond. What to expect during your week in class:
Our facilities:

You will be learning mostly in the classroom (see photos) with some interactive review time in our gymnasium.

You may use the kitchen (fridge, kettle, microwave, coffeemaker, sink).

Bring your lunch and beverages/snacks! Or, A&W and McDonalds are nearby.

We do not allow outdoor shoes into the gym and classroom, so please bring clean indoor shoes, slippers, or sandals so that you are comfortable!

Please practice considerate and professional behaviour while you are here.
Your first day:

Please be here by 8:45am so that we can get you checked-in at the office! (we will open the office at 8:30am, and you won't have access to the building before then).

Bring valid government-issued photo ID.

We recommend bringing a pen/pencil/highlighter and notebook/paper.

Class starts at 9am! You will be in class from 9am-4/4:30pm Monday-Thursday.

You get two 15-minute breaks, every day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, plus an hour for lunch. You may eat and relax at the facility, or go out for lunch.
During the week:

Your instructor will hold daily, interactive reviews.

Mid-week, you receive access to the online practice exams.

Friday morning, your instructor will guide you through a review of the most important material, and this is your last chance to ask any questions you have!

You will write your exam after the lunch break on the Friday afternoon.
After the exam:

You will receive your exam grades through email, from us. If you passed, you will also receive instructions on how to apply for your licence. If you need to re-write, you will receive guidance on how to do so.

If you passed your exam, the Government of Alberta will send you your training certificate through email.

We typically are able to send your exam results by the Monday afternoon following your exam.
