Learn VIP Security Tactics
The world-renowned IKMF VIP Protection course is a three day intensive training program on close protection security tactics. It teaches how to provide third-party protection (to other individuals), such as Very Important People (VIP) protection and executive protection, and physically keep them safe while in a bodyguard or law enforcement role. This program was developed by the International Krav Maga Federation, the global experts in defensive tactics. This training course is for security professionals who want to start or advance your career as a professional bodyguard, or for those who work in municipal or federal policing or military.
This program is broken into three components:

Day 1: combative

Day 2: positioning & movement

Day 3: attack mitigation and evacuation.
This program focuses on physical attacks to your VIP and mitigation using single and two man bodyguard teams. You will be working in groups of two and three during the training. Please note that this program does not focus on advanced work, risk assessment, team preparation, vehicle dynamics etc. (Please contact SpecVIP for more information on this type of program.)

Pre-requisites:

Have a current Alberta Security License
-
Or currently working for a security company or security for a casino (letter of recommendation required)

Or active law enforcement appointment

Note that you will need to provide proof of the above.
Pre-Course Preparation:
Daily physical activity varying in intensity and type to ensure endurance during the program. Calisthenics, weight training and cardio are recommended.
This is a physically demanding course, not a PowerPoint program, as you will be working on the mats for 8 hour days. Ensure that you schedule your downtime accordingly. Working a night shift and coming to the program is not acceptable. Your safety as well as the safety of others depends on you being alert and ready to work.

More about the IKMF VIP Program
"The main concept behind 3rd party protection is, quite obviously, to protect someone other than yourself. Cases can be placed on a scale from natural (like a mother protecting her child), through a responsibility based protection (a teacher or commander), to professionals (a Bodyguard protecting his client).
Third party protection Krav Maga is needed because of its difference from the basic self defense situation: Physically, one must use the technique to protect someone else and not himself, by taking two physical actions; the first is removing the 3rd party from danger's way. The second is parrying the attacks for the 3rd party. Emotionally, one must make a switch in his mind; "switch off" his sense of self preservation, and "switch on" his sense of duty (natural, responsibility based or professional)."
